The Centennial Trail initial construction period between was in celebration of the Washington State Centennial. The Trail generally follows the contours of the Spokane River, allowing access for many types of outdoor non-motorized recreational activities. The Spokane River Centennial Trail is a designated National Recreation Trail.
It was designated a National Recreation Trail onjoining 30 other recreational trails in 15 states.
